My experience with ADEA was truly amazing. It’s such a beautiful, life-changing program that is transforming young people to become better versions of themselves, not only for Rombo but for their own futures. I pray that ADEA reaches many more young people in Rombo and continues to expand its wings even further. I loved every bit of the experience and hope to return soon to create more beautiful memories. My time at ADEA Foundation in Rombo, through a character-development seminar we ran there with Delight Technical College, left a lasting impression on me. We arrived unsure of what to expect, but what we found exceeded anything we’d imagined. It’s clear the students are being formed in mindset and integrity just as much as in trade skills, a combination that’s genuinely uncommon to see done well. Their determination was obvious in how they approached each day, matched only by the warmth with which they received us as guests. Stops at the local high schools made plain both how many young people need this kind of support and how far ADEA has already come in delivering it, turning scarce opportunity into visible, lasting change. Perhaps the most touching part was listening to the locals describe how their families have been altered for the better, how despair has given way to hope, and how they now picture a brighter path for their children, proof that this effort reaches entire households and neighborhoods, not just individual students. Meeting members of the leadership team confirmed everything the visit had shown: a staff driven by conviction and a shared sense of purpose, treating this as more than a job. There’s an evident hunger among the community to keep building something meaningful, and I’d love to see the initiative eventually stretch past hospitality and trade training into other fields entirely. ADEA isn’t only teaching skills, it’s shaping futures, and not just for individuals, but for the community as a whole. I’m grateful for how warmly I was received and already looking forward to going back.

I recently visited ADEA with Delight College. We held a seminar on character development, and I found ADEA’s work unparalleled in its impact and long-term success.

I witnessed the students’ grit as they tackled each day with the zeal of dreamers. I also witnessed kindness and grace as they welcomed us with such joy that we felt at home. I sensed a yearning for something more: a willingness to invest time, energy and effort in building a hopeful community as young people seek to redefine their world and embrace a new era for the people of Rombo.

I hope the project will grow beyond the culinary and service industries into a multifaceted, interdisciplinary organisation. Thank you for your hospitable welcome. I look forward to returning.

Reflection and Review of the ADEA Foundation Visit

My visit to ADE A Foundation in Rombo, near the Kenya–Tanzania border and the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, was a meaningful and eye-opening experience. The foundation plays an important role in supporting the Maasai community, particularly warriors and students, by creating opportunities in education, skills development, arts, design, computer studies, and other areas that can help young people build sustainable futures.

During our visit, we conducted character development sessions for two days, engaging with the community and students on personal growth, responsibility, confidence, and the importance of education. We also had the opportunity to attend the Emuta Festival, a thanksgiving celebration that brought people together and gave us a deeper appreciation of the culture, resilience, and traditions of the Maasai community.

However, the visit also exposed us to several challenges that require urgent attention. The area faces inadequate infrastructure, poor roads, limited network connectivity, and challenges accessing reliable food and clean water. Educational facilities and other essential services are also limited. These challenges make it difficult for students and community members to access the opportunities they deserve.

We also observed the economic difficulties affecting many Maasai families. Traditionally, livestock has been a major source of livelihood, but many families have lost cattle through reserves and other hardships. As communities continue to preserve their cultural identity and traditions, there is also a need to create sustainable economic opportunities through agriculture, vocational training, entrepreneurship, technology, and other modern skills.

My greatest appeal after this experience is for sponsors, institutions, government agencies, development organizations, well-wishers, and individuals with the ability to invest in community development to partner with ADEA Foundation and the Pillar of Maasai Development (PMD). Investment in these programs can help establish better learning facilities, improve roads and infrastructure, strengthen access to water and other basic services, expand educational opportunities, and provide practical skills that can transform the lives of young people.

Supporting ADEA and PMD is not simply an investment in buildings or programs; it is an investment in people, culture, education, dignity, and the future of the Maasai community. With the right partnerships and resources, the foundation can help nurture a generation of educated, skilled, confident, and responsible young people while allowing them to preserve the cultural values that define their identity.

The experience left me with both gratitude and a sense of responsibility. There is great potential within the community, but that potential needs support, resources, and meaningful partnerships. I therefore encourage everyone who believes in education, cultural preservation, youth empowerment, and sustainable community development to consider supporting ADEA Foundation and PMD. Together, we can help turn potential into opportunity and opportunity into lasting transformation.

My visit to ADEA Foundation and their work through Pillars of Maasai Development in Rombo was deeply inspiring and transformational.

One of the most powerful things I witnessed was at the vocational college—the students begin their day with devotion. It was evident that they are not only being equipped with practical skills, but are being intentionally shaped in character, values, and purpose. This balance of skill and spiritual grounding is rare, and it shows.

Visiting the high schools where many of the students are schooling was inspiring. The number of students highlighted the scale of need, but also the magnitude of impact that ADEA is making. You can clearly see the bridge being built—from limited opportunity to real, life-changing transformation.

A particularly moving experience was engaging with the Maasai women in the community. Hearing their stories—how their children’s lives have been transformed, how hope has been restored, and the joy they carry seeing a different future for their families—was deeply encouraging. This is not just individual impact; it is community-wide transformation.

My time with the founder and the senior management team further affirmed this work. Their passion, clarity of mission, and genuine commitment to the community are unmistakable. This is not just an organization running programs—it is a team fully given to a calling.

What is happening in Rombo is real, intentional, and deeply impactful. It challenges you to reflect on purpose, stewardship, and the role we each play in transforming lives.

ADEA Foundation is truly building not just skills, but futures—and not just individuals, but communities.

It’s not so often that you see the genuine smiles and excitement of young people having grabbed an opportunity to make something of themselves; especially after the hardship experienced by the families around Rombo. I had the gracious opportunity to experience this in Rombo, twice when my family and I, and later, my good friend and I visited the Adea Foundation’s work.

It’s so wonderful to see the young men and women offer the service they have learnt, with a badge of pride and confidence. My family and I had great fun learning new cuisine and ways of making simple meals taste spectacular. I specifically enjoyed how the students worked together as a team- in the true spirit of Ubuntu.

I encourage anyone who wishes to get inspired, take the conic trip to Rombo and spend time with the students…especially when they are graduating. It’s such a beautiful moment of hope and love.

Be sure to ask Douglas and team to time and set a date for the sunset and sunrise on a clear day- with Mt. Kilimanjaro towering over Rombo in its beauty.

I have experienced the hospitality of the ADEA students twice now, and each time was an amazing experience! To see them learn, practice, and deliver on their training is such a privilege. If you have the opportunity to go to Rombo and to learn about the program and meet the students, you will be blessed!

ADEA has been a pillar to many Africans children who could not access education and felt neglected in the society, early marriages and immoral in the society, when the organization came through many went to school got jobs and are able to help their loved ones and the community at large. It is a blessing to support this work that gives impoverished families hope. ADEA pays school fees for kids who would be expelled for family’s inability to pay. And ADEA provides vocational training for these kids after they graduate. I give thanks for this excellent work.
